First roadtrip to Iowa

We never would have known about Dr. Drack had it not been for another mom in this small community of parents fighting for their children. I emailed Dr. Drack with tears streaming down my face, begging her to see my son, she was able to get him in in 2 weeks from that email. 2 weeks, a doctor who is booked out 1.5 years, was able to see Grayson in 2 weeks! We felt a small victory in this nightmare.

With the help of a duo team of an amazing pediatric opthamologist and a spunky pediatric rheumatologist Grayson went through a full days worth of testing.

Grayson had multiple eye exams, an ERG test, retina photos, and his blood drawn. He was so tired he fell asleep in the rheumatologists room, they examined him while he was sleeping!

Grayson still has vision, he tested at about 20/200, which is legally blind, but we are thankful his vision is still present. We are trying to retain it as much as possible, for as LONG as possible. Grayson started a medication, in pill form, he has to take 4 pills a day. This medication is supposed to prevent inflammation within the eye.

As parents we are keeping hope, we know there are talented people working really hard for our child. We are thankful for them.

See you Iowa, until next time… (in 6 months)
